I just got this Canada Picture Postage beautiful covered bridge on eBay. I have Googled, but cannot find where it is located. I am quite sure it is in Quebec or the Maritimes. I thought the rock in front would make it easy to find, but not so. Anyone have any ideas? |

Whenever I see one of those covered bridges it reminds me of the headless horseman of Sleepy Hollows. |

Hey BeeSee-
I also thought it might be a Maritime bridge, in particular the Point Wolfe Bridge in Fundy National Park.
But, the only pictures of it I could find were from a different angle than on your stamp;and, I couldn't match it. Besides, your photo shows a brige which has two spans, and the Point Wolfe bridge is a single-span.
It may also be one from Quebec or Ontario.
Or, since painting covered bridges red is not the norm for NB, and because some US covered bridges are painted red, it might be an American bridge.
My former home province of NB has more than 60 covered bridges, including the longest in the world at Hartland.
The Point Wolfe bridge is one of the newest, because it is a replacement for one destroyed by accident about 20 years ago.
New Brunswick was considered as a possible location for shooting "The Bridges Of Madison County", but Iowa won out.
I visited the Rosemond Bridge, near Winterset, Madison County, IA, in 1995, and saw it in all its movie glory.
At the time, the inside of it was covered in graffiti and I was told it had to be re-painted quite often to cover up the writings. Sadly, the structure fell victim to an arsonist some years after it gained so much fame.
I could go on.......but.....
I must dash off again to another of my self-help group for bores (Al and on, and on, and on, and on) meetings.

Thanks for the info XNber. Yes, it could be an American bridge. On Google, I did see many eastern Canada covered bridges painted red. The seller of the stamp (from Quebec) did not know the location - but I will find it! |

I like this one issued for the inauguration of the Confederation bridge in 1997. It connects Canadian province of Prince-Edward Island to mainland. |
