How were the words series and date years placed on revenue stamps? Were they placed on them with type set like a newspaper printing press or manually with a type writer in some cases or part of the plating process?

The reason I ask is for the topic I started in the EFO sub forum yesterday.

I don't know enough about revenue stamps or have the references to make that determination on my own. But looking at the word that looks to be misspelled to me. I'm inclined to believe that it was applied with a form of type set either mechanically or manually with a type writer. Either senecio would be human error.

It's just overinking. As far as I know the series and date were printed using a specific dated plate every year. Since it was expected that only lawyers and accountants would be seeing these, and not the general public, no one cared much how they looked. So the overall look of the Reds and Greens is often not the best.
