Yes I like the look of plate 24 also. I'm still very much the learner on plating 1d reds

For the missing imprimaturs, this is the site to go to:

Same problem here.

Interestingly, that appears to be Ian Wright's work. He is the one behind the site for Penny Black plates.

I am trying to plate for the first time. I have a nice PB copy that I am not sure about, think it could be 7 or 8, and could use some help.

The other one is on cover dated Feb 17 1841 but I am a bit lost on that one.

Any help would be appreciated

The TG is a plate 7 and the DA is a plate 6.

Hope this helps!

This is a site that I use to plate a penny black. It too has photos of actual stamps.

I was not able to access the site listed earlier from 'NSK'.

I'm happy if I get the right plate. But the site shows all positions for all plates if one is so inclined.

I got a new Penny Black , tried to use the plating tool at GBPS and I think this is plate 10, but this is my first time using and am really not sure I did it right. When I look at maltesex.com to compare they do not have images of the FB letters to compare to.

Did I get this right or am I totally off base.
regards,
Martin

There is a link in the post preceding yours. Enter leftf rightb. At the top is a link that includes 'Nissen' where you can see all plates together.

Two hints: look at the position of the F relative to the vertical centre line of the southeast corner; look to the bottom of the 'O' in "ONE". If that does not convince you, look at the tilt in the B.

My suggestion would be to have a closer look at the stamps in the middle of that Nissen picture.

Do you think the base of the 'F' at left compares to that of plate 8?
Also, the 'O' in "One": look at the bottom.
Look at the lower end of the left leg of the first 'N' in "PENNY."
Is the 'F' set as high as in the plate 8 example.
Also the red Maltese Cross is likelier for earlier plates.

As I said before:

To search for the combination FB, enter: leftf rightb.
