Is it only my imagination, or is the name of the town on this postmark cancel off center to the left in comparison to the date line below.

Thanks

I believe you are imagining things! And if so, would not be important,

Peter

Yes I just found that there is Town called Koping in Sweden. I thought that it was only the part of the longer name of a town. It is all normal then.

You're not imagining things. I'm guessing it is a function of how the date slugs are added/changed, because this one goes the other way:

[from stamps of the world]

The town name, itself, would be fixed because of how the Ö interacts with the ring.

[ETA: And of course there might just be multiple devices that are centered differently.]

???? Align the cancels and the 0 pretty well aligns in both with the .. in outer ring above. And the date slug /stamp centerline aligns between P & I on both. Maybe the top 0 could be slightly centered right probably indicating a second hammer/cancellation device as Cjd suggests.

It is nothing strange with these postmarks. You will find a description of the one on 12öre at
https://sdb.jkppf.se/Stamp/Index/27199 . The postmark on 5 öre is an other postmark described at https://sdb.jkppf.se/Stamp/Index/27193

Be that as it May. It is obvious, at least to me, that letter G is above the number 3 in the middle whereas in other example it ismuch lower positioned.

Thank you for the link aolsson.
You are correct. Positioning on 5 ore looks the same. The cancel on my sumple may have been applied with more force as font looks a bit different(letter K especially), but it is probably due to more ink.

I thought it might be useful to mention the app ImageSleuth here. I believe it is symmetrical as others have noted. I'm attaching images from ImageSleuth. The app has been useful to me to better read less pronounced cancellations so I thought I'd pass the hint along.
