Here is an image of an airmail stamp depicting a statue of British army officer and administrator Major-General Charles George Gordon, CB (1833-1885) mounted on a camel, and an airplane, engraved and printed by Thomas De La Rue & Co., Ltd., and issued for use in Sudan on January 1, 1933, Scott No. C4, plus a photo of the statue. Note: After Sudan's independence, this statue was removed from Khartoum and relocated in 1960 to the Gordon's School in Woking, Surrey, UK.

After seeing the movie 'Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark', the Sudan stamp reminds me of a movie moment. Fascinating perspective and silhouette.

Puzzler & Terence Collins - I'm glad that Sudan airmail stamp reminded you of some great cinematic moments.

nethryk, I appreciate your time, effort and wealth of knowledge. You really are a world-class philatelist!

Most people have never seen the older stamps...
Here are some stamps (not as beautiful as the engraved ones) on maximum cards, that may have reached a wider audience today.

Yes, I have only 3 of the 4 maxicards in this WWF set from Mongolia.

Russian airmail with zeppelin. The camel looks incredulous.
I never noticed the sled and caribou (moose?) on the right, until I scanned it.
