Since there are no SCF stamp sales currently listed I suggest the number of posts be lowered to 50 from 100. I wonder if a lot of people like to look at posts but not make a comment? Anyway I have enough posts on the coin community but been watching here for some time. I better start a posting!

I'm not a moderator, but I doubt they'll change the requirement and I'm not sure they should, myself. There are various reasons why sellers might not want to sell on this forum in particular, but a big one is that many who post here sell on eBay. If you click on a member's name, it will show their eBay user ID (if that member chooses to make that available) and a link to their listings there. It kind of accomplishes the same thing, and most members just do it that way instead.

If you sell on eBay yourself, there's a place in this forum's account settings (I think) where you can input your eBay user ID and make them visible to other members. But, it's a good idea to keep posting here in any case. Firstly it's good practice to actually participate, learn, and help new collectors, etc. It's why the forum exists to begin with. But if you're looking to sell anything and want people to see your eBay listings, having more posts will keep your name more visible and more likely to be clicked on. If you want to sell specifically on this forum, people will be wary of buying from someone with a low post total who never participates. They won't feel they know them or trust them.

The issue is not the posting requirement.

There used to be a lot more selling volume here when it simply used a traditional selling subforum rather than the dedicated selling/auction mechanism, but (and please correct me if I am misremembering), the powers that be got sick and tired of some people bellyaching about auction sniping and discussion posts in sale/auction threads. It became very high maintenance for the moderator(s), and then these dedicated features were implemented... and the selling traffic just died.

I find it interesting that on the coin side of the forum, they went in the exact opposite direction, from the auction/sale mechanism back to selling via traditional forum postings.

Personally, I much prefer the traditional forum method. It garners a lot more participation.

I have toyed with the idea of selling on SCF, but I find the site confusing and no instructions available to help. Consequently, I use Stamps2Go which is very simple & straight forward. I also like the fixed price method vice auction.

I'd like to sell an occasional extra, but I can't be bothered with eBay and the rest. If the traffic were greater here, I'd sell some singles for nearly the cost of postage. Oh well...

Hahaha! I tried to give away some Brazilian placeholders here and not one person was interested. Maybe I collect the wrong stuff.

I have a question concerning number of posts----As you can see, I have a substantial number of posts at SCF. I have recently become more active on the coin forum, but just don't have a lot of posts. Do the posts here on SCF count as posts on the coin side re: selling or buying?

I put up some sales here from time to time and have some success. It is easy to list, there is a choice of auction or BIN and it is not a problem.
I also preferred the original way we did things because I enjoyed the auction banter and the sales lists on one thread, but as it is now it's OK.

So while I am here, a spot of advertising ! I will be putting up a whole lot of lots for sale this weekend so hope you will all take a look down the left hand side of your screen and ALSO click on 'View All Auctions' because the list will definitely go off the bottom of the screen !

Many items will be at silly prices.

Londonbus1.....also silly !

Rohumpy, coin and stamp forums are totally separate forums, post counts are kept separate.
