I have been going through some misc albums and stock and have found some World FDC, Australia, Israel, Ceylon, Spain, Japan, all from the mid-50's to mid-60's. I can catalog the stamp as used/FDC but would like to know how to value them. All are cache, some with special postmarks. (I'll post pictures later). I know Scott values FDCs of modern era postmark 1970 forward minimally, but was wondering (other than ebay) if anyone in the SCF community collects WW FDCs and has a sense of value on World FDC items

From exerience the majority of these would sell between $1 and $5. Sometimes the value is not in the stamp per se, but the cachet. Cachets from the postal services tend to be common, but there are those that are harder to find from certain makers and can command higher prices. Popular topicals can also sell better as well - Scouts, animals, Red Cross, Soccer, etc.

Thanks Battlestamps: I guess that whether US or foreign, the theme & maker, as well as period and interest will determine value. I would wonder further as to anyone watching eBay, or collects foreign covers would have a 'ballpark' value??? Those shown are from mid 1950's and 1960's and trying to determine cache maker is difficult as I believe they would be local to the country of origin???? (Really curious!!)

Unfortunately for sellers of these, and fortunately for the few who collect these the going prices tend to be the cost of a dealer's time to stock and market them rather than value in the covers themselves. That puts them in the $1 to $5 range, depending on the dealer and whether the dealer wants to sell them sooner ($1) or wait for years ($5) to find a willing buyer.
