German-Occupied Alsace Stamp Day Overprint Cards

I'm still plowing through a pile of German postal stationery that I recently picked up. Here's another nice set from the stash.

In 1941, Germany overprinted its earlier "Im Kampf um die Freiheit! (In the Fight for Freedom!) series for use in the German-occupied Alsace region of France. They were released to commemorate the January 1941 Tag der Briefmarke, or Stamp Day. (The Germans were very prolific in issuing stamps and postcards to commemorate stamp collecting, stamp expos, national stamp days, etc.)

The cards depict various units of the German armed forces.


P4/01 -- Infantry


P4/02 -- Mountaineers


P4/03 -- Mountaineers in Winter Gear


P4/04 -- Panzer Troops


P4/05 -- Railroad Artillery


P4/06 -- U-boat and Seaplanes


P4/07 -- Luftwaffe Communications Troops


P4/08 -- Motorized SS Troops

Since I am German, born in 1945, I look at things differently.
The cards are, I do not really know what to say. I noticed one thing so, even so it was 1941, there are Hindenburg stamps printed on the cards and not Hitler's image. Just an observation.
