Wondering if this 3c Washington is on ribbed or vertical laid paper. Have checked on net and found a post with picture of laid paper and think it is similar. Would very much appreciate your comment and opinions. Thanks.

Also notice that the front side of the face has no color and looks plain.

This is the result of post production use. It was on a ribbed envelope, or dried on ribbed paper after soaking. Offset stamps were printed on fairly thick soft paper.

Also people often kept stamps in photo albums (a horrible practice), which might produce this.

you should take a picture of the back side from an angle to show the texture of the surface.

I think the previous post is suggesting you use incident (side) lighting to enhance the surface patterns on the paper. It looks machine-made wove to me.
