Hello everyone,

I'm excited to make my first post here and start learning more from this wonderful community! I recently came across a Samoa 2p Rose stamp, which is listed on StampWorld.com under the title "1877 Not Issued."

This has left me curious:

Was this stamp truly never issued?
If so, are there specific reasons behind its status as "not issued"?
Are there any recorded instances of this stamp being used, perhaps unofficially or as revenue?
I'd appreciate any historical background or insights about this stamp and its context within Samoa's early postal history.

I've attached a clear image of the stamp for reference and would love to hear your thoughts or any additional information you might have.

Thanks in advance for your help!

The Stamp World listing could be clearer. A two pence stamp was issued in 1882 but by then the Express Service had been discontinued so it was never put into service. The stamp is Scott Type IV, number 2. Reprints of these stamps are everywhere so caution is warranted when collecting.

Over decades of buying old collections and large lots I have come across hundreds of these Samoan stamps and I can't remember a single time where they were the real thing.
