stallzer, I was inspired by your excellent centerline copy of 1-cent position 1R1L, and put together this composite image of 3-cent position 1R1 in the early, intermediate, and late states. 1R1i shows an apparent engraver's slip left of the UL rosette.

Thanks for the kind words, Laurie and ClassicCoins. I have spent decades trying to gather those things that I like. All it takes is money, time, and patience. I am lucky, in that the 'time' factor is still ticking (I ain't dead yet!). Although not a terribly patient person, the fact that I am still alive and I've been doing this for close to 50 years makes me more persistent than patient. About 25 years ago, I was getting married. My soon-to-be father-in-law told me that I was going to have to pay for the wedding myself. In order to do so, to the degree that the 'Mrs' wanted it to be done, I had to sell my stamp collection --- all the beauties that I had gotten over the previous 25 years were all gone! As it turns out, my (now ex-)wife had less patience than me and just a few years later I found myself free to spend my money as I pleased, without clearing it with anyone, so I started up again. As for the third factor (money), that is probably the one factor in shortest supply for me. I work on the floor of a local factory, so rather than buy whatever/whenever, I save for when a real beauty becomes available. A little overtime, and I'm all primed to buy a new stamp! I'll never own a mint, OG, 5c 1847, or a 4c bluish paper, but I have plenty of fun with what I CAN afford. Not unrelated, I buy a couple lottery tickets each week in order to keep the dream of owning an OH 5c 1847 AND a 4c bluish paper. So, I guess I shouldn't say 'NEVER'...

CC, THAT is cool! A set of a corner position from the 3 different states of the plate! What a novel undertaking. I never considered such a thing, yet the concept (but not the realization, I am sure) seems so simple! Thank you for sharing.

This is a reconstruction of the Plate 2 "Big Crack" (2L, 12-13L, 23L, 33L) that was once in the Saul Newbury collection.

Laurie, In case you didn't see my earlier request, can you show a larger scan of the 3-cent stamp near the middle of your stock page with the SEP Cincinnati cancel?

OK, I will post a very ordinary S.11 but one that shows something I did not really understand till recently. [I have really just gotten into the 3c S.10-11s.] And recuts of the upper label block are commonly mentioned but I could never see it. You can defintely see the recut on this example. Green arrow.
