Bobby De La Rue was spot on......'some' difficult NSW Numeral cancellations to interpret. considering many were stamped upside down.

You got me thinking finches, so I checked my DLR covers and while there a few stamps placed on the envelope sideways, just one was put on upside down!

Yes, they occur to varying degrees, some quite spectacular.

They are worth keeping as interesting and unusual additions to the ordinary issues.

Clearly a constant flaw finches. Could be from later printings. These stamps were printed in sheets of 240 and are the workhorse stamp (along with the 1d shield) of NSW in the latter years of the 19th/early years of the 20th century, so in theory there should be plenty more out there. Can you tell us the watermark please? The one on top looks like a 1908 postmark and the one below has a duplex that fell out of use about 1907.

Well spotted Finches - the flaws on the 2d Queen Victoria Diamond Jubilee make for very interesting research. Would love to see more that you find.

I have 63 x 2d QV.
Seen no damage on any of the "N"

There is this one, appears to be breaking down, or overinked?
These scans were taken some time ago, I have no idea yet as to the Wmk
Could be Sc#99, or 103, or 111, or 123

Not checked at all for Wmk or perf
All saved under Sc#99 until later.
Majority Light Blue (my appraisal) / ultra
2 examples only stand out as being dark blue
