Yes, all a bit strange really,
All I have seen is the glass on stamps,
the blue does look beautiful, as does the presentation,
I just cannot handle his art.
Calls to mind the irritating art of Australian ..Leunig
(see postage "Teapot of truth") I was never a fan of
that either.

Sure, art is in eye of the beholder, but when so many "beholders"
show approval, I wonder why I don't.

Maybe we need a SCF travel club... we travel to see art; meet our on-line friends, and see art... collect some stamps...

Thinking this may be a good thing

small world huh?

In less than 4 years I've lived in Rancho Cucamonga, Palmdale (high desert- but its a dry heat) and now Lake Forest/Irvine area. I love this side of the mountains... flowers, and green.

The desert, I'll put in the same category as snow.. lovely to visit, but I don't want to live there...:)

Here is one of my favorite art stamps. It shows Skt. Hans Aften (St. John's Eve) as celebrated in Denmark to mark the summer solstice. The painting is by Jens Søndergaard (1895-1957) and was painted in 1955.

I never forgot 100F in october... I bicycled allot there but it is very warm and sunny almost all the time. A place i'll remember the rest of my life.

Nice stamp. Love Scandinavia. It's a good topical theme "St. John's Eve". In Europa 1998 "Festivals and National Celebrations" there is some about "St. John's Eve".

My favorite countries for painting stamps are those of Czech Republic, slovakia or Czechoslovakia. They have a top quality.
France, Denmark, URSS or russia, Canada and Germany have them very good painting stamps too.

Harry, welcome back! Did you get flooded out of your trip? Or ... as usual, am I just confused.

Not yet into much international, but the Bhutan stamps may be one of my first attempts. Still trying to get my holiday finds in some order. More later.
