Quote: My great -aunt Nellie unloaded bagfuls of stamps on me when I was 12 or so; most of them form the basis of my GB and Australia collection I love the idea that somebody was given a hoard of stamps that has sat around for years and is now getting studied. And the way that links with family history and the history of the world is one of the things that makes this hobby so fascinating |

Rod, Here you go. Images link to larger versions. The Anchor-T perfin is from Anker Teppich (Anchor Carpet) in Düren, which still exists today. That perfin is known to have been in use from 1893 to 1900. The second perfin is from a publishing house in Berlin. The catalog lists two possibilities, but in reality, they are the same company. As of 1919, Der Propyläen-Verlag (The Propylaea Publishers) was a division of Verlag Ullstein (Ullstein Publishing). Both Ullstein and the Propyläen division still exist today. |

Thank you Postmaster.
For the record, you did give me the "U" perfin ID beforehand, that was the 3-15-3 puncture variety.

BL -- Bayer. Landes-Gewerbebank (a commercial bank), München, 1921-1936 Dr.B. -- Dresdner Bank. Can't tell location and dates without a better photo.
For the non-perfin stamps, I recommend you start a new thread to make them more visible to others and to keep from derailing this thread. |
