Thanks, but not really. The problem is that I can't find it in the catalog. |

Found it. I was reading it as TFW, but it was FTW. And believe it or not, the key to me finding it was recognizing the cancel as being from Erfurt. |

Yes, the German catalog sometimes is quite strange. I talked about the editors about it, but they don't want to change the old letter-sequence-madness. One of the strangest examples is a famous film and television production company - UFA. As the perfin of this company is a monogram, and alphabetical order comes into effect, it is not listed under "U", like everyone would suggest, but under "AFU". |

This is great information here. I knew some from GB perfins, but did not how prevalent it was on German stamps.
I saw on the first page about the "PA" perfin , several companies were listed, but they all seemed to start after 1920 or later.
I have a 3pf Scott 81 MI 84, that has a "PA" perfin but is dated 6.9.13 which is before any of the companies listed dates.
thanks in advance for any thoughts on this.

azstampguy,
Can you post a photo or scan of your stamp? There were many PA perfins -- it's likely yours isn't the same one shown previously. |

Paul Albert in Greiz. I think they were a woven goods wholesaler. The dates given in the catalog aren't exact – they're the known dates of use as of the publication of this version of the catalog. So, it looks like you may have an earlier usage than those known to the ArGe-Lochungen. |

Thanks for the tip, but I'd like to see what the whole perfin looks like with just a shadow of part of it in the cover. Vesa |
