This 2006 stamp from Singapore features the black-spotted sticky frog, that has been found to lay eggs in the liquid in the pitcher plant also featured. Scott 1234c.

Laos 1974 Common Swamp Pitcher Plant. The stamp has the scientific name of the plant as Nepenthes phyllamphora, but nowadays it is known as Nepenthes mirabilis. Scott C116. |

I collect carnivorous plants as well as the stamps depicting them, so I appreciate this thread. One of the hardest to obtain, it seems, is Ivory Coast/Cote d'Ivoire Scott 769C, showing Triphyophyllum peltatum. Does anyone know the context for that stamp being issued? Was it for local use but not issued through one of those agencies that sell primarily to topical collectors? |

I quite like that Laos pitcher plant. I'm interested in stamps with flora, particularly when depicted in the manner of botanical drawings. I imagine I will have a topical collection at some point.

A propos the Ivory Coast Scott 769C stamp, it is part of a se-tenant strip of 3 released in 1985. Looking at the Scott catalogue, for normal stamp issue, there are about 20 sets issued in that year, several with multiple stamps and all of them have local themes. I think 20 sets of stamps is quite a lot for this little country, so the stamps issued then could be targeted at collectors; but at least thematically they don't go off-country, unlike the modern ones issued on behalf of many African countries by the "stamp agencies". I am still looking for this set! |

Would you happen to have a Scott # for that Japanese pinguicula? Carnivorous plants are one of my topical collecting areas, but the more recent issues are hard to find.
I am also looking for the Scott # for depictions of Nepenthes from Japan from 2009, Palau from 2008, Indonesia 2007, and Philippines 1995. |
