Portrait of US President Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1882-1945), engraved and printed by Waterlow & Sons, Ltd., and issued by El Salvador on April 12, 1948 to commemorate the third anniversary of the president's death, Scott No. 608. Historical note: As the inscription on this stamp suggests, FDR was hailed as a champion for democracy in the world, and praised for his administration's "Good Neighbor" policy of non-intervention and non-interference in the domestic affairs of Latin America.

Happy Presidents' Day! These two well-knowns appeared on a stamp issued by Ajman, one of the emirates. (Note that the names do not correspond to the seating arrangement depicted on the stamp.)

I came across this article in an Australian newspaper (Newcastle Sun, 6th Dec 1947) and thought the article interesting and relevant to this thread. It don't know whether Gordon Harmer got his way as I don't have the actual Scott catalogues/albums to check. Stephen

They did end up in the catalog, the San Marino as numbers 257A-257I & C51A-C51K and the Hungary as B198A-B198D & CB1-CB1C. Because they waited to add them they had to use the letters in order to not have to renumber issues released after the Roosevelts.

Thanks for following that up, Billsey. I thought they would end up in the Scott Catalogue eventually but I had no way of knowing.
