I don't think I remember seeing this topic done before. Children on stamps are one of my favorite topicals. I have been trying to assemble a collection focusing on issues affecting children. My job invovles working with children, so my selection seemed only natural. I am still trying to figure out how I want to organize it. For now, I am in the collecting stage. Below are 4 recent US stamps concerning family violence, missing children, child health and testing for Sickle Cell Disease.

km41566 - Great idea for a thread! Here is my first contribution: Children of the unemployed, semi-postal stamp designed by French artist and sculptor Emile Grégoire (1871-?), engraved by Jules Piel, and issued by France on May 28, 1936, Scott No. B46, Y&T No. 312. - nethryk |

Hi to all I would say that possibly the Nation that has produced more stamps with Children on them would be New Zealand. This would have started in 1929 with their first health stamps and the famous smiling boy. Here are two covers I have with New Zealand Children on Stamps. Regards Horamakhet |

This stamp looks like 2 children...but it is not (It is the same child used twice) The child looks like he/she is left handed, ...but No. To make have the sitting image fit the scene, the negative was reversed, giving the appearance the child was left handed. (nothing wrong with lefthandedness :) Produced by Harrison & Sons. |

Even Kings were children once Edward, Prince of Wales (Edward VII) This is listed in Unitrade as Edward VII as a child, but I believe it is actually Edward VIII, citing Newfoundland Postage Stamps, 1857–1949 : A Brief Historical and Iconographic Study by Thomas F. Nemec |

Here are images of the two stamps in a set issued by Poland on November 14, 1959 to publicize the "1,000 Schools" campaign for the 1,000th anniversary of Poland. Philatelic note: Scott says that both of these stamps are printed by combined lithogravure and engraved, but I believe the SG descriptions are more accurate, and so I would choose to go with them instead. - nethryk Schoolgirl, designed by Polish poster designer Wiktor Górka (1922-2004), combined engraved by Barbara Kowalska (née Szymanska) and photogravure, Scott No. 878, SG No. 1124. Three children going to [Note: Scott says "leaving"] school, designed by Polish poster designer Hubert Hilscher (1924-1999), combined engraved, typography and photogravure, Scott No. 879, SG No. 1125. |
