(Trying to sort this one out...I haven't had luck figuring out the last letter. The only match I could come up with was Bran, which would be Romania, but that seems unlikely, and it doesn't look like an "N". Bran, for what its worth, was home to Vlad III, Vlad the Impaler.)

Nice cancels! I think the Austrian one may be from the island of Brac in Dalmatia (c with a caron or hacek, a little v accent on top).

I tried to show the letter here and it looks fine in preview mode but doesn't work when posted.

However Bran would be entirely feasable ?

Are you sure that one's not PRAG (Prague)? The old German name for Brac was Bratz.

@indieguy: Your project sounds great -- the Jan 1 to Dec 31. I've thought about doing that with my Machins, rather than passing along kilos and kilos of them to other people. They're ... a bit hard to unload sometimes. :-) The first many will be easy, but then one keeps looking, and looking, and looking, for each new one. I also keep my eye out for my birthdate (month/day/year). ( Yes, I am young enough that Machins were in service when I was born! Wanna make something of it?! :^p )
