What country/entity were the stamps with this detail on them issued for?
Two points for the first person to correctly identify it; one point if we need to post an easier version Saturday afternoon.

I'm just curious as to how other collectors who participate in this weekly quiz
recognize the stamp in question. What makes the light bulb go on?
For this week I thought for sure I had seen this snippet of a stamp before but I just
couldn't place it at first. Which country could that be I wondered.

When Zuerich4 submitted DDR I thought he had it but when I checked through my
East Germany and Michel I didn't see it there.

But DDR got me thinking yes this part of the design must be from Soviet/communist/East Europe
Since I have quite a few Czechoslovakian stamps, partly because of their beautifully
engraved stamps, I looked through my Czech stuff and sure enough there it was.

Czechoslovakia Scott 1757 1971 50th Anniversary of the Czechoslovak Communist Party

Here is the rest of the set Scott 1754 - 1757

I have to admit the weekly Friday Quiz is just about the only thread I still find interesting
on this site.
Thank you EdziuMM

I keep wondering if this challenge is something AI could handle well. Has anyone given it a try yet?

At that point what would the point of the challenge? You lose the competition of personal knowledge of stamp designs.

Shall we have AI generate the question for AI to solve?

Let's hope that the contestants depend on their memories of stamps. After all, the winner's prize is not a Cadillac. How about just fun?

In my opinion, being able to use AI and other intelligent image online search features is as an important skill as being able to recall a stamp design from memory. But some of us stopped entering because to made for an unlevel playing field.

Speaking of memory...for today's quiz I forgot to look and see if there is a "Camels on Stamps" thread right here on this forum. You can bet I won't use camel pix again.

I didnt use AI but my own personal intelligent intelligence to recall the thread Camels On Stamps where I posted on pages 2 and 3 in 2011 and again on page 13 in 2020.

I agree it is an important skill. Perhaps having AI coding and AI search contest quizzes would be a useful endeavor. But that activity is not philately.

Bill Cosby had a wonderful riff on grade school, "Two plus two is four. Right (Riiiigghht as he pronounced it). What's a two?"

AI in schools has been around for many decades if not around 5000 years if you include the abacus. Once one begins to use a mechanical or electronic calculator no need to memorize that two plus two is four, nor is there a need to know what a two or four is or is there? The user only need to recognize a picture of a two and a picture of a four. The abacus requires a bit more knowledge and understanding.

I use AI in my philatelic work every single day and the time saving I realize from it allows me to donate more of time to other philatelic projects and efforts such as moderating this community.

And using this thread as the sole context, any collector who can use AI enhanced image searches to lookup a stamp/cover in hand or to learn more about a stamp/cover in hand has a greatly increased their capabilities and are saving significant amounts of time.
