Gosh I have no clue how many stamps I have. All I know it is that I have a lot of them. I have 143 Albums so far (some countries have multiple albums). All of them with the exception of US are Steiner pages.

US, Canada, Great Britain, Japan, Australia, Germany, Poland, Czechoslovakia,
Hungary and Russia are about 3/4 or more complete. Some stamps I will never be able to afford

China, Israel, Liechtenstein, Romania, Spain, Nigeria, New Zealand, France and Egypt are 1/2 complete.

Many of the smaller countries have a decent amount of stamps in them.

I don't know if I will ever have the time to work out how many stamps I have in total but it would be interesting to see what I have.

I do enjoy when I finish a page or a set and I have been able do finish many of them lately.

Dianne

I crossed the 100K mark on December 22 and am now at a little over 104K. The point I'd like to make is it takes a lot of time. I probably spend at a minimum of 4 - 5 hours (retired) a day growing my collection. A few countries get to year 2000 but most stop around late 1980s. Also expect that it's going to get much more pricey and difficult to fill those spaces at somewhere around 150K? Additionally hard to find some of the very inexpensive as individuals and need to purchase complete sets to get the one needed.

Does it count of you have 400,000 different stamps in 102 cards?

Does it make you happy(?), then yes.

(And I think anyone would have a difficult time saying that separately-identified stamps don't count just because you haven't spent $40,000 on hinges. And if they care, who cares?)

I bought lots of 102 cards and corresponding boxes from Subway to sort away post-1940 stuff, and ran out of interest. Just not my thing. My wife says if I don't get rid of them before I check out, they're going in the dumpster. I don't think she's kidding. (My estate plan includes a trust with a trustee empowered to deal with my collections/idiosyncrasies, but who knows?)

Lots of people got 400,000 stamps in red dealer boxes , Let's see who I know ---Jerry at Stamps and Stuff in Iowa got it , Jim at A& D Stamps in Calif. , Superior Stamps in N,Y.C. got it , Michael at A to Z got those in red boxes and a few I don't know .

Jim at A&D Stamps in Calif. holds the record ,he only takes 120 red boxes to the stamp shows but has over 250 Red Boxes total .

How many do the Pleyte brothers have? A crapton. I'm not personally invested in their totals, but theirs are a mix of general, and very granular.

Some will be marked NZ 114, and some will be i.d.'ed down to the perf/paper, as NZ specialists are wont to do. Same with any number of other countries/catalogues.

Curious, are 400,000 different i.d.'ed on cards less valued/"impressive" than 400,000 mounted in albums?

There are benefits and pitfalls for storing in 102 cards. For me it works the best for the real modern stamps that I don't have pages for. Lots of 1990s and up. I put the 102 cards in 4 pocket postcard holders in Scott order by country in a 3 ring binder. At least I can see the stamps easier than in a red box. How many 102s full of stamps are in a red box? Is it about 1,000? So 400 boxes then for 400K still takes up a lot of room!

Here's me assisting A to Z back in 2009. YES! 102 cards can be fun. The collector to my right was Tom Eckers who worked at Bel Aire Stamp and Coin. He needed more space in his stamp room so he made a doorway to another room.

congrats wheelman.. If you were able to add 4K in three weeks past 100K that is no small feat. Takes me about a year! What do you use for storage?

Sadly yes, closed in 2018... It was the last old timey retail stamp store in Minnesota!

Wow, time flies. The last time I tried to stop in, I missed the two-hour "Open" window by about twenty minutes. I would have guessed that was 2020. COVID has completely disrupted the space/time continuum.

Stamps & Stuff in Des Moines sold a lot of their WW red boxes last year - showed up in Aldrich and Dutch Country auctions. Bought several.
