Thank you,
I am sure you are correct. It is a 1d. not a 2d stamp duty, as all the others are.

Boreraig, this postmark is 336 (with sidebars removed).

Freeman's book 'The Barred Numerals of Victoria' (2nd Edition, 2018) lists it as 336(2) Yarram Yarram and it is 'not rated'.

Hi folks. Can someone tell me when numerical cancellations stopped being used? Also, is there anyway to tell what state this KGV might be?

For New South Wales, numeral cancellations stopped being used around 1915 or so.

The latest date I've seen for my collecting area is 14 January 1915.

It's not a NSW cancel, I can tell you that much.

It looks like a Victoria cancel to me.

Fairdinkumstamps should be able to confirm, and hopefully identify!

Can someone please help me with this one? My guess is 625 but the large font should identify it.

Hi Boreraig,

It's hard to imagine it being anything other than a 625, but where is fairdinkumstamps? He'll be able to shed more light on this than I ever could.

Thanks Bobby,
One more. This is either Boisdale 1721 (S?) or Springdale 1765 (RRRRR?)
If I strike it lucky I might even be able to afford a copy of Freeman.

Me again, This one is clearly South Yarra 200. But is it "RR duplex medium thick figures"?
Sorry folks but after 30 years I am finally going through thousands of my father's colonies and pre-decimals.

Hi Boreraig,

Unfortunately I cannot help with very much in the way of the other Australian colonies, but can help with any New South Wales queries you may have.

Thanks again Bobby. I'm not sure what NSW stamps I have but will look for them before the other colonies.

For the three shown above......
* If it is 625, and it looks like it is, then it is Corindhap, Victoria. The town was previously known as Break O'Day. Rated as "S" in Freeman.
* The next one I believe is Bairnsdale, Victoria and has the number 174. It is not rated.
* The third one is a bit trickier. I agree it is number 200 and is therefore South Yarra. It looks a bit like the cancellation is "doubled" which makes it appear thicker. It also has that black dash after the "A" of YARRA. I suspect it is the sixth duplex which is not rated.

Using my only source of expertise, the book, I agree with Rod222 (Kilmore third duplex, not rated) and StevieG.
