Having trouble identifying this. It is a 591 but has a "OB" overprint. The overprint is not listed in Scott and it looks to me like it may have been typed on the stamp. It doesn't match the font nor has the periods of others from the officials. Hard to tell from the picture but the cancellation is on top of the OB.
Comments and assistance appreciated.
Paul

Hi Paul - Take a look at the preface to the Scott Official Stamps section for the Philippines. It speaks to Official Handstamped Overprints and should shed light upon what you have. In essence Scott only lists press printed 'OB" overprints, not handstamped overprints.

Thanks for the quick response. That preface sounds like this stopped with the Japanese occupation in 1945. Guess not!
Thanks again.

Rod - thanks for posting. Interesting that all of yours have the period after the letters. My favorite is top row second from the left.

Calstamp - I would be interested in your article also but the forum won't allow an email request to you. I think my forum profile allows you to email me - perhaps that would work.

I also have a Philippines OB hand stamp overprint that I would like to know more about.

Calstamp, looks like you need to go into your profile and allow forum members to email you, says you don't accept emails sent to you.

Resurrecting an older topic here.
Found this handstamp in a Philippines collection I purchased. Another weakness of Scott is that they will describe that hand stamped officials existed, but do not describe anything about possible value.

I looked at HipStamp and found no overprints like this one, and with over 600 Philippine officials on eBay, I found one stamp with this hand print.

Anyone out there that specializes in Philippines that might know anything about this particular hand stamp? I appreciate your help in advance!
Thanks, Ray

Ray, you might try asking someone in the International Philippine Philatelic Society as mentioned on the CFSC newsletter posted directly above my old last post.
From what little I've seen, there are as many different overprints as there where Officials.
