jaxom100 - I haven't looked at all of the possibilities, but 66L1L looks like a much better match than 67L1L. The guide dot on 67L1L looks to me to be too far off to be correct. I think the recut drawing on top may be wrong in the Neinken diagram. He shows it extending further over the "T" of POSTAGE than it does on your stamp. I have an example that matches yours. I think he might have also exaggerated the downward bend in his drawing to make it clear. The recut on the left side seems to get a little weaker as it extends past the "P", so that may be why it's not evident on your stamp. Here is mine that I plated 66L1L. |

Quote: The 1c plating wizard is coming along well. Does anyone have any recommendations for putting an excel program on the internet so two people can work on it? I would like to see it hosted on Stamp Smarter but that might take a long time. Hi Rick, VBA/macro enabled Excel is not a good solution due to security considerations. While great for personal use, sharing them requires trust in the source since they can easily contain malicious code. And do to this, when it is shared with others, they will receive various security warnings and the default behavior will to be open the spreadsheet with the functional code disabled. This also leads to increased support time/cost when users go to try to use it. Don |

Widglo, I meant 66L1L, not 67. That was a typo. The top recut does not match 66L1L. I also think the Neinken drawing is incorrect.
Don, what is a better solution? |

Hi Rick, I have no idea because I have not yet gotten a copy of the spreadsheet to understand it's functionality. As I mentioned to you via email the other day, I sent a request to Lorry but did not get a reply and I have not had a chance to follow-up with him. And as I also mentioned, I am heading into surgery in the next few days and am busy trying to get my things in order. It a significant surgery and one that has not previous been performed in my part of the country and as such, I cannot predict when I will be back on my feet and productive. Don

Don - Good luck with your surgery. I have a feeling you'll come through with flying colors! I'm sorry, but I didn't receive an email from you. I checked junk mail, too. It's annoying, but email is just not reliable sometimes. |

Hi Lorry, No worries, I did not send it to you using my normal email but rather sent it through the SCF message system. It may be that a stray neutrino slammed into one of the electrons making up the of thousands of ethernet packets that was forming the email transmission. Don |

Does anyone have a copy of 74L1L that I can put in the database? I don't want to leave an open space on plate 1 late left database. One of the two platings that I am going through was incorrect for that position. |

I think the plating wizard project is terrific, but I do want to mention one issue with this type of thing, which maybe you can keep in mind while working on it.
Its not what you are shown ... its what you "aren't shown" that can matter here.
Take, for example, the 3c plating wizard, which is the only point of reference we have for this type of thing, so far, that I'm aware of. With that, if, say, I cannot tell if a 3c OB inner line on Plate 1E, for example is recut or not - often a challenge, and I get that wrong as input to the wizard, then I will not be shown the proper position to inspect. If I then find one that seems close enough, I might pick it and go with it by mistake.
Now, a thorough, experienced plater would know better, and would fully realize that you have to examine every position on difficult patients in order to be sure, but for shortcut, quick plating, this is an easy way that mistakes can be made with wizards like this. Garbage in, garbage out, so to speak. So just be aware of that. I don't know that anything can be done to mitigate this, other than a simple reminder that to be absolutely sure of a plating, frequently all positions on a plate need to be scrutinized. |

txstamp - It's good to be reminded of all of the pitfalls this wizard can have. The problem you mention is one of the reasons I wanted a feature that would aloow one to add selections to earlier selections. One can prune as one goes along. I have also avoided, with a few exceptions, mutually exclusive pruning choices in the wizard. If you are looking at Plate 1L, for example, and you don't indicate a guide dot, you will be presented with all examples that meet the other criteria you selected, and these will include positions both with and without a guide dot. To put it another way, the wizard doesn't give choices such as, 1) Has Guide Dot, 2)No Guide Dot.
I'd be glad to send you a copy of the app for you to play with, if you'd like. The same goes for anyone who has contributed to these threads and is interested in 1c plating. I'm sure that many of you would have some very useful suggestions for Rick and me, you you needn't commit to be involved in the project for more than just evaluation. |

widglo - that sounds great. Feel free to message me via the board. I've messaged you a few times in the past with results similar to Don's. |
