Welcome to Stamp Community Family (SCF)

Many people come to SCF because they've inherited a stamp collection and want information and help determining a value of their inheritance.

Please remember these truths about stamp collecting:
1. Unless your benefactor was a millionaire investing in stamps, there is a 99.99% chance that you are not going to get rich.
2. Your inheritance was assembled and collected by someone who enjoyed it as a hobby and pastime. This is usually the true value of a collection. As such, you should consider continuing and expanding the collection.

You should now proceed with these three steps:
1. Read the questions and answers already posted in this forum; 90% of your questions have already been answered.
2. Use the Search button at the top of this page to search this forum for specific items you may have; e.g. 'Gold Stamps'
3. Finally, post any unique questions by starting a New Topic with a good subject line.

There are two caveats:
1. Remember the Forum Rules you agreed to when signing up for the SCF forum.
2. Any discussions with offers to buy/sell will immediately be deleted.

There are a few places on the web offering advice on selling inherited collections -- but to a novice it would be hard to find this info.

Here's a link to a UK stamp shop, Dauwalders, on the matter.

They are talking about the UK market for British stamps, but I think the same pretty much applies to the US and anywhere else.

Hello. I have a world book with a lot of vintage stamps in it. I have been online for the past 5 hours trying to figure the value of some of these stamps . I'm just lost. I can't tell if they are fake real . If they are considered good condition. I honestly have no clue what I'm doing. If someone could help me out I can send some pictures.

Make a few scans of things that you're interested in finding out about, and post them here. The starting point is that most stamps are worth little or nothing, but people here will give you some idea.

We can't tell from the picture you posted. A book of "approvals" are probably only worth a few pennies per stamp, but you never know. You need to show us at least the first page with stamps on it.

Hi I was going through the collection my grandfather gave me and I found this cool looking stamp and I'm not sure if it's valuable or not. Does anyone know?

Also I have inherited thousands of stamps and I have no idea what to do.
