It was only after coming across Hungary's 1999 "We've Joined NATO" stamp that it occurred to me that the expansion of NATO would probably make a fair contemporary topical collection topic, with both stamps & covers to mark various events.

Of course, the original NATO members have issued anniversary stamps, to boot.

https://www.cvce.eu/en/obj/greece_a...bc6559f.html ... Greece and Turkey join NATO (London 22 October 1951)

Greece issued three "NATO 1949-1954" stamps, which does not quite fit the thread title, but who's counting?

Okay, let's count ... 1200 Drachma ... 2400 Drachma airmail rate ... 4000 Drachma airmail rate.

I am a little chuffed to have this stamp Genuinely Postally Used, tied on a not-too-bruised cover by a legible postmark ... decently centered, lightly cancelled ... but I am torqued that the Greedy Dealer demanded a full fifty cents!

The postmark is 19540923 Piraeus Mission (lit), but someone who knows more about Piraeus or Greek Postmarks is gonna have to be the one to answer "What Mission?"
