Russia issued a set stamps on the 10th Congress of the International Astronomical Union. The first stamp shows the Crimea Observatory and the second shows the telescope inside the dome, which has found at least a dozen asteroids. Scott 2092 & 2094, issued August of 1958.

Russia issued two stamps on the Pulkov Observatory, which opened in 1839 and is located in Pulkovo Heights. The first stamp shows the observatory and F. A. Bredichin, V. J. Struve, A. A. Belopolski. Scott number 1722, issued July 28, 1954.

The second stamp issued for the 150th anniversary depicts the observatory. Scott 5796, issued on July 20, 1989.

Russia issued a stamp for the International Geophysical Year 1957-58. The stamp shows a telescope. Scott 1957, issued on July 4, 1957.

Switzerland issued a stamp on the opening of the first Swiss planetarium, located in Luzerne, which opened in 1969. The stamp shows the constellation of Pegasus, the winged horse. Scott number 496, issued on February 12, 1969.

Sweden issued a set of two stamps on the Uranienborg Observatory on Ven Island. Scott number 2149-50, issued October 27, 1995.

Ukraine issued a set of stamps on the 150th anniversary of the Taras Shevchenko University Astronomical Observatory, located in Kiev. Scott numbers 225A-C, issued January 13, 1996.

The United States issued a stamp on the Palomar Observatory that houses the Hale telescope, in San Diego County. It took 21 years from the beginning of the grant to the 200 inch telescope's use. Scott number 966, issued August 30, 1948.

Uruguay issued a set of stamps on the 10th anniversary of the Montevideo Planetarium. The first stamp shows the building and the second stamp shows the projector. Scott numbers 740 & C301, issued January 13, 1967.

The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) is a space telescope that was launched into low Earth orbit in 1990 and remains in operation. The Hubble Space Telescope is a collaboration between ESA and NASA. It is a long-term, space-based observatory. The observations are carried out in visible, infrared and ultraviolet light with a 2.4-meter mirror.
