A few Canadian Icons. Of course our country being just a baby compared to the European Countries, we don't have any Bachs or Mozarts

We have had musicians before, though not specifically composers. Do we have to stick to musicians who are also composers? In other words, musicians AND composers?

Daniel François Esprit Auber (1782-1871) was a French composer of grand operas. His music has been described as light, vivacious, graceful, and melodious. Here is an image of a semi-postal stamp featuring a portrait of Auber and sheet music from his most successful opera, Fra Diavolo, which premiered on January 28, 1830, designed and engraved by Jean Pheulpin, and issued by France on March 6, 1971 for the centenary of Auber's death, Scott No. B445, Y&T No. 1667, plus a postcard with a photo of Auber taken in 1869.

Phil I'm by no means an expert when it comes to printers or scanners
or anything else for that matter but IMO the scanner should work with or without ink

Phil and Litho. I had the same problem the other day with my printer/scanner. Kept telling me it was out of yellow ink (which is it wasn't) but kept defaulting to warning message and wouldn't let me scan. Took me 45 minutes to convince it otherwise. Time I'll never see again!

Hector Berlioz (1803-1869) was a French Romantic composer. One of his most famous compositions is La damnation de Faust, Op. 24, a "dramatic legend" for four solo voices, full seven-part chorus, large children's chorus and orchestra, which was first performed at the Opéra-Comique in Paris on December 6, 1846.

Here are images of the nine commemorative stamps in an imaginative set depicting various scenes from "The Damnation of Faust," designed and engraved by Albert Decaris, and issued by Monaco on April 26, 1969 for the centenary of Berlioz's death, Scott Nos. 712-20.

Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev (1891-1953) was a Russian composer, pianist and conductor who mastered numerous musical genres and is regarded as one of the major composers of the 20th century. His best-known works include the March from The Love for Three Oranges, the suite Lieutenant Kijé, the ballet Romeo and Juliet and, of course, the children's classic Peter and the Wolf. Here is an image of a stamp featuring a profile portrait of Prokofiev, designed by Boris Ilyukhin, printed by lithogravure, and issued by Russia (USSR) on April 23, 1991 to commemorate the centenary of the composer's birth, Scott No. 5993, Zagorski No. 6247, plus a photo of Prokofiev c. 1918.
