You need to take a much better picture preferably of the back, and also a frontal picture of the entire stamp

The white lattice work is not a grill, if that is what you are asking about. The actual grill should be visible on the back, if there is one. Sometimes the grill is flattened and might require viewing at an angle.

Futch,
I will expand on Peter's comment. Gentle advice ... no matter what your question is about in a thread, it is good to show an image of the entire front and reverse sides to fully set the stage, *then* the closeup of the specific area of interest. The more complete your information is, the better our responses can be *and* you might be surprised what else we can tell you about your item..Until full scans are posted there is really nothng productive to be done here.

I'd hazard a guess and say it's a #62

Looks like a Z-grill to me. What luck you have in finding the second known copies of the rarest U.S. stamps in granddad's boyhood collection! I am super jealous.

I'll bite. @futch, what is the question? Need to see the back if you want opinion on a grill. It's a Scott #63 if no grill.

Note: I keep getting logged out. This is crazy annoying.

Futch,
What part of this simple request do you not understand?

Quote:
... show an image of the entire front and reverse sides ...

I don't mean to be blunt, but, well, yes I really DO!!!!! And it deserves to be shouted. You replied with "haters" not long after some attempted helpful replies were given in another thread. We don't hate, but after a while our patience grows thin when we try to help those who cannot help themselves just a little bit.

To everyone else,
Quite frankly, we are wasting our time here.and we should not even bother to make any further replies to this thread until the OP can learn to provide proper and adequate illustrations.
