Very User Unfriendly Forum

As a new member I cannot send an email to a member, then I try to post and cannot get an answer from the person I want to reach. This is ridiculous. I think I will be unsubscribing as it is impossible to use this until one posts a ton of messages.

Only 48 more. I found it easy to ask 50 questions. And it's a friendly community. The forum rules are in place to protect everyone.

Yup. Very frustrating. Think of it as a sort of winnowing process.
I would advise patience. The person you mentioned will be around to help you when the time comes.

It not fair to allow new members to invade other's privacy with email questions just because they are a member of a forum. Forums are for everyone to learn, not have private conversations via email and keep everything secret.

Also, we get at least a hundred registration attempts per day from spammers who would use our email system to spam the snot out of our members.

As the owner it is my responsibility to protect our members to the best of my ability and I take that very seriously.

Also FYI, you won't find a friendlier forum anywhere.

While in the probation period on not being able to send emails, why not post a shout out to who you want to contact. Some questions are best to just add to the forum rather than selecting a response from a particular person.

Do you mean forum rules and/or forum members?

Since your post was a request to a member to buy something from them, perhaps they did not reply because they did not want to have to tell you that posts to buy/sell/trade go in the "Buy / Sell / Trade | 50 Post Minimum" section of the forum, and that you have to have 50 posts minimum to post in that forum section.

Or it could be something as simple as they are on holiday and not checking the forum.

I would also advise patience. I'm sure not all members check these forums constantly. They might just be busy.

If the OP thinks this forum is unfriendly, then there is a forum 'down under' I could suggest that would make this one look much better. Also one here in the US that has all the APS top hats squabbling with one another. I've never felt that I was being treated badly on here, not once.

It's like a lot of other places, you need to put in your time, make some posts, in no time at all you will have had your 50 posts. I admit I had a few doubts about this forum at first but I have not found one any better yet.

Welcome to this Forum. We have members from all over the World. There is always someone willing to help !

I made my fifty pretty easily, and quickly, mainly by posting questions, in retrospect some of them pretty dumb. I always got helpful responses. If you think this forum is unfriendly, I have to wonder if you ever had a job.

As a newbie, I find that this Forum is very friendly. And easily the friendliest around.
