2 Czech Covers - 1951,1952 To Milton Mitchell

I have 2 Czech covers from 1951 and 1952 to (Mrs.)Milton Mitchell. I knew Milton's daughter back in the day, when he was a prominent collector in the Washington area. I think I bought these at a stamp show, but the daughter might have given them to me. Are these first day covers, and of any value? I'd appreciate it if anyone can even tell me what they are.. K

The images are a bit small, but they do appear to be first day covers given the commemorative postmarks that relate to the stamps and cachets. I can't read the dates on them to be absolutely certain. Most Czechoslovakia FDCs of this time period sell for around $1 to $5 with some exceptions. Beethoven is a better topical.

I tried to make larger copies but they were too big to post here. I guess I should have scanned 2 separate copies. Thank you.. K

The first cover commemorates the two most famous Czech composers of the nineteenth century - Antonin Dvorak and Bedrich Smetana. According my 2012 Michel, the cover is worth 3.50 Euros. The Beethoven cover is worth 2.50 Euros. Take note that there are some varieties of the 1.50 Kc and the 2.00 Kc that are quite valuable (order of magnitude 200 Euros used). I am translating from the German but the varieties are described as "small arc" but there are no other details in my catalogue. If someone has a specialized Czech Michel, they could perhaps comment. I also noted that the print run of the 1.50 Kc and 2.00 Kc was very small relative to the other two values at less than 0.5 million.

I guess the first copy came out O.K., so here is the second, the 1952 cover..K

The first is Scott 460-463 issued May 30, 1951. The second is Scott 529-531 issued June 7, 1952. Both are indeed FDCs.

Their value is priceless for the memories. The numbers mentioned above for actually selling them are more what a stamp dealer might charge. If you were to sell them you might get about $1 to $2 each. My recommendation is to keep them for the memories.
