On June 1, 1976 Bahamas issued a two-stamp set recognizing the bicentenary of the USA. The 16c value of the set shows a very "out of scale" map of the 48 contiguous states of the USA and the Bahamas. The size and distances of the Bahamas Islands is wonderful "puffery". If the map were to true scale, then the Bahamas would be over 2000 miles, from southeast to northwest. From nationsencyclopedia.com, "longest distance: 950 kilometers (590 miles) southeast to northwest."  |

The pictorial portion of this January 13, 2004 German duplex cancel shows a map of 'Briefregion 06' (mail routing region 06) which is located in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. The mail processing center (Briefzentrum, or BZ) at Halle is pinpointed on the map. This facility was opened in 1995, and it processes 1.5 to 2.25 million letters/day.  |
