Hello everyone!
Which reference (s) do you use to plate the US 5 cents 1847 issue and to know the exact position of them? Do you have any website to plate them? I would like to plate my owns and I would preferably use a website, instead of a book, because websites are free. But am I right about the fact that there's no complete plating of this issue?
Any help would be appreciated.

There is a great website, www,stampsmarter.org that features a plating initiative for Scott 1. Go to https://stampsmarter.org/features/S..._Plates.html

I should point out that the 5c 1847 has proven to be a difficult stamp to plate reliably.

There are some well known varieties, many of which have now been plated, thanks to the existence of some large multiples.

Plating ordinary 5c stamps, is challenging and there is no complete reference yet for this task. The website linked is the best current resource for this.

Since many of the stamps have guide dots (usually in the left trifoliate) it seems like plating many of these should be achievable at some point, but its still difficult. There are also differences at times with the framelines in some cases.

The plate was re-entered, if I recall correctly, I believe in 1850, and that created some new appearances and varieties.

The plate also wore extensively over time, which changed appearances as well.

Thanks, txstamp for the information! I already read some comments on this forum about the plating of these stamps and that's absolutely crazy! That's a hard job, but really passionating!
