Hello Stampcommunity.org.

I collect first issues from around the world and create custom pages to showcase my collection. However, I have a cover with an Oldenburg #1 (type 3) 1852, and I don't know how to read the postmark. It clearly shows 6/2... is that to mean June 2nd?

Can anyone familiar with German State postmarks help me decipher the details on this cover so that I can make an accurate page when I mount this cover and stamp?

Also, any idea what city this is that created this postmark? All I can make out is rstedt.

Thank you,
37 yr old novice collector, Dan

6/2 would be February 6. I concur with Beverstedt. That's on the backside of the cover? Can you show the entire front of the cover? That would help to corroborate the receiving town.

WOW! Thank you Vayolene for assisting with the city and thank you Germania for assisting with the correct date.

Here is the entire front side of the cover.

Question: Should I erase the previous owner's pencil markings?

Thanks for showing the entire cover. Clearly, it was addressed to Beverstedt.

If it were my cover (nice cover by the way) I would erase the pencil markings. Use an art gum eraser, not a typical eraser such as you might find on the end of a pencil. And be very careful where the pencil overlaps the postmark. Use an erasing shield if you have one.
