What were the "steps" (in order) of the production of the later U.S. postage dues (J88 - 104) ? Thanks all . . .

How detailed are you looking for?

The sheets were printed as blank, then the black denominations were added.

OR are you wondering about the various papers used (different by gum), perforated , printing runs, which presses, how and when denominated and ...???

A SCF search will reveal much of that info.

mostly just from the basic stamp design printing to gumming, perforating, overprinting and any "drying" between steps . . . Thanks for taking time for this . . .

like every other overprinted stamp. Nothing unique about postage due really. These are rotary press stamps. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotar...inting_press

If your library has Fundamental of Philately, it has detailed information about how stamps are made.
