Do you have MNH duplicates of Machins you'd like to sell? Interested in accumulating examples for cataloging. Strongly prefer collections without obvious duplication and sellers in North America but I am very open minded. Accumulations considered as well as foreign sellers, especially from the UK.

Please state catalog value with any offers. Email here using the internal SCF system. Thanks in advance, hope something materializes!

@shermae,

What is duplication for one collector is specialisation for the other. You can collect Machins according to a DAVO / SG One Country Album, the SG GB Concise catalogue, the SG Specialised Catalogue, or any of the MCC / Connoisseur / Deegam catalogues.You, also, can combine the latter three.

It might be helpful to state what you consider duplication.

NSK - good point. What I mean by duplication is many odd multiples from sheets (and obviously from a single printing) as I am collecting singles. Sometimes MNH lots contain blocks of 4, 6, 8, or even more.

It all depends on the lot; I'd consider a lot with some multiples if it also has enough variety to be worth sorting. Likewise I would encourage anyone with MNH Machins to sell to shoot me an email and see if we can make a deal.

Keep in mind most specialised Machin catalogues are very outdated. The Deegam is up-to-date but does not provide catalogue prices, just ranges that, for the more modern material, may be on the low side.

I noticed the Connoisseur Catalogue has printings in certain sections up to about 2020 or 2021, but I am not sure, based on how the info is divided up, if it is complete to these dates in all sections.

One can hope that since Machins ended more than a year ago that a comprehensive work would appear with all known printings to the end.

Connoisseur was published by B. Alan Stamps. It closed down in July 2023. So, no update is due. Gibbons may not publish a new specialised one. They cannot even publish the Vol. 1, part 2 announced for 2021. The Concise will be up to date, but very basic.

Deegam is up to date as should MCC be.

Now this is what you needed! Sold for £1,700. Usual atrocious illustrations.

I, of course, would have used them for postage.

In general, UK auctions will offer the best chance of getting a decent collection, although I do recall that Londonbus, who doesn't I think, post here anymore, offered his collection on the site a few years ago.

Very cool collection but beyond my means! Hoping to find a few small collections of duplicates that collectors might want to monetize. I know they're out there...

What does MCC stand for if not the Connoisseur Catalog?
