No "new" news so far... Since the USPS announced several years ago they would raise letter rates twice a year (usually January & July), that has been true.

The "news" is that they are planning on SKIPPING what would have been the "January 2025" increase for letter rates (note, their "competitive market" services like Express Mail, continue to have rates raised but not necessarily on same schedule). (Heard of a thing called "inflation under control" in the news??)

Starting in summer 2025, they will just pick up where they left off ... anyone can count how many that is from here on out to other years if they want to (like, "3" for 2025/2026, "5" for 2025/2027 and so on). Simply subject to any more circumstances beyond USPS control (like "return of high inflation" etc.).

The USPS needs to adapt or become extinct. Rate increases are inevitable since the cost of everything has increased, especially transportation (I think though they are self-insured) while at the same time letter volume continues to decrease. I can't remember the last time I sent a letter. I pay bills electronically and correspond via email. Packages will eventually become the main source of income, but they will not have a monopoly on those.
