I used to be a bit puzzled why people updated their catalogues but this 2020 issue is about 30% fatter than my previous 2005 copy - well worth upgrading for all that extra information.
The Classic Specialized is the one catalogue of all their offerings that IMO is worth upgrading every few years or so, as there are actual efforts to expand coverage (listing and valuation of NH vs H, multiples, on-cover vs. off, additional varieties, etc.) vs. merely updating values as in the case of the regular volumes or even the U.S. Specialized. It's the ONE catalogue that Amos Media actually does a stellar job on... even discussions here at CHICAGOPEX this year, with dealers and other collectors, the consensus generally is that it's the best single-volume worldwide catalogue available from any publisher anywhere.
I always hear complaints about the pricing and format of Scott catalogues; the tenor and tone is always "meh" or begrudging tolerance at best, but bring up the Classic Specialized and the script is universally flipped. People love it... even with it being US$50 more expensive than the other volumes. There's more perceived value.
In fact, even though I have access to all of the digital products, I'm buying a new 2024 print edition of the Classic to take home with me.
