Republic of Korea 2004 Celebrated Mountains of Korea I
Hallasan Mountain (elevation 1947 m) is a shield volcano which forms the bulk of Jeju Island off the coast of Korean Peninsula. Eruption of massive basaltic lavas originated from the upper mantle took place over the last 2 million years.

Republic of Korea 2005 Celebrated Mountains of Korea II
Cheonwangbong Peak (elevation 1915 m) is the highest point of Jirisan at the southern end of the Sobaek Mountain range. The 350 km long Sobaek, referred to as the spine of the Korean Peninsula, is composed mainly of Precambrian metamorphic rocks.

Republic of China 2001 Taiwan Mountains
Yushan (elevation 3953 m) is the highest mountain on the island of Taiwan. It is one of the 165 peaks in the Central Mountain Range which stand over 3000 meters above sea level. Yushan is composed mainly of Miocene metamorphic sandstone and shale. Orogeny due to collision between the Eurasian Plate and the Philippines Sea Plate started during Pliocene and is still ongoing today.

Republic of China 2002 Taiwan Mountains
Hsuehshan (elevation 3885 m) is the highest peak of the Hsuehshan Mountain Range which lies to the north and west of the Central Mountain Range. The mountain is made of Eocene to Oligocene metamorphic sandstone and slate and exhibits topographic features of erosion and glaciation.

Tanjung Kelayang Beach in Belitung Island features granite outcrops eroded into spectacular geometric forms (known as the Tor landscape). Belitung Island is the southern tip of the Tin Belt (Malay Belt) of the Malay Peninsula which contains granite batholiths of Triassic age.

Malaysia 2021 Hidden Treasures of Malaysia
Bohey Dulang Island and the adjacent Bodgaya Island are subaerial portion of a volcanic crater located off the coast of Semporna Peninsula in northern Sabah. The crater is part of the Sulu volcanic arc associated with a Miocene subduction zone between the Sulu Sea and the Celebes Sea.

Kyrgyzstan 2009 Glaciers
Zvezdochka Glacier is located on the northern flank of Jengish Chokusu (7439 m above sea level). the highest peak of the Tien-Shan mountain range. The 20 km long glacier scours Paleozoic bedrocks and feeds into the South Inylchek Glacier.

China 2004 Frontier Scenes of China
The karst area of South China features diverse landscapes corresponding to various stages of karstification process. Karst peaks along Li River in Guangxi Province, shown on this stamp, are remnants of Devonian limestone formations which have been uplifted and subjected to weathering and erosion for the last 40 million years.

China 1993 Landscapes
Heaven Lake is a crater lake atop Changbai Mountain (elevation 2744 m), an active stratovolcano formed by intraplate volcanism in a continental rift setting. Magmatic activities began during Pliocene, and the caldera which contains the lake was created by eruptions in 946 AD.

Canada 2024 From Far and Wide IV
Qarlinngua sea arch is located 85 km southwest of the community of Arctic Bay, Nunavut, near the northern end of Baffin Island. The arch and nearby outcrops are carved from a 50 meter-thick, Paleozoic banded sandstone formation deposited in an intracratonic basin on the northern edge of the Canadian Shield.

Torngat Mountains are located on the Labrador Peninsula at the northern tip of Newfoundland and Labrador. Glaciation of Precambrian gneiss formations creates U-shaped valleys, deep fjords and finger lakes flanked by sheer rock walls, with valley floors covered by tundra.

Costa Rica 2004 Volcanoes
The massive Irazú volcano (elevation 3432 m) is located at the southern end of the Cordillera Volcanica Central, a volcanic chain created by subduction of the Cocos Plate under the Caribbean Plate. The basaltic-andesitic volcanic complex has many active craters, including one filled with green water.

Peru 2006 Volcanoes of Arequipa
Pichu Pichu (elevation 5664 m) is located in the Central Volcanic Zone of the Andes, formed as a result of subduction of the Nazca Plate underneath the South American Plate. The stratovolcano was formed 6.7 million years ago and comprises andesitic lava flows and pyroclastics. Glaciation at high altitude (above 4500 m) took place during Pleistocene.

Venezuela 1982 Natural Science Society 50th Anniversary
Cerro Autana is located at the western portion of the Guyana Shield in the Estado Amazonas, near the Colombian border. It is a table mountain with a narrow base and vertical cliff faces. Cerro Autana and other table mountains in the region are the remnants of a large sandstone plateau that once covered the Proterozoic granite basement complex.
