Art & Paintings On Stamps

Juan Luna the painter, is comfortable when it comes to large large paintings, this one is wall size.

I do like the reproduce painting on stamps,It's because I like art I suppose or it could be the vibrant colours associated with the artwork,I have six Australian FDC's with artwork on the stamp and four of the covers depicting the artist's.
Any one whom collects the Australian stamps up to date should have these in there albums,the renniks numbers are #505,#506 and #507,#599,#633,#716 and #839 also #2686 is a painting of Queen Elizabeth the II,I know there are a few I haven't mentioned so I'll leave it up to some one else to chime in with these.

Have often read posts refering to stamp numbers, excuse me please. just a quick question: what's the name of the book that has all these numbers? with pictures? (sorry, am still very new to the technical side of these hobby). Also what's an FDC?

G'Day Nic and thanks mate O.K. now let's see where to start,
Renniks is an Australian catalogue system which number each Aussie stamp and includes the year of produced and the current worth today,It's the same as Scott catalogue but with a different numbers system.
For the $10.00 stamp (1977 Coming South (Immigrants)by Tom Roberts)Renniks has it listed as a #599 and Scott has it listed as a #579 so I'll put the Renniks number then the Scott number for a comparison in catalogue numbers when I post the photo's,FDC is short for First Day Cover,It's a stamp put on an envelope on the first day of issue then cancelled on that day (I hope) and sold to the public.

G'Day Nic and not a problem with the numbers mate,Renniks has them running numerically date of issue,Scott has grouped and numbered them even though they are different years.

I've always loved art on stamps.
I was actually working on a stamp exhibit, which I never finished, that was going to be art though the ages, starting with cave paintings right to the present day. It was just too much to do. So I had narrowed it down to just art on Canadian stamps. I'm still fiddling around with that, but I haven't put much effort into it lately.

I think these stamps are nice, even if not many people collect them or acknowledge them as real stamps.



They are from Bhutan and they look like and have the texture of an oil painting.
