The Herend Porcelain Manufactory is a Hungarian manufacturing company, specializing in luxury hand painted and gilded porcelain. Founded in 1826, it is based in the town of Herend near the city of Veszprém.
The stamp set features a Frankenthal coffee set, a platter with floral designa, a vase with decorative handles, and shell-shaped tableware.

Porcelain jugs, designed by Pentti Rahikainen (1928- ), printed by photogravure, and issued by Finland on November 23, 1973 to commemorate the centenary of the Arabia porcelain company and the Finnish porcelain industry, Scott No. 541, Facit No. 744, plus a URL link to a history of Arabia: http://www.arabia.fi/en/Arabia-Story/History

Corund is a commune in Harghita County, Romania, with a long tradition of pottery craftsmanship. The stamp set illustrates Corund ceramic tableware decorated in a specific cobalt blue chromatics with floral and zoomorphic motifs.

Here is quite a nice one from Dahomey (present-day Benin) portraying a native potter.



I'm also quite partial to this one, which features a detail from the Archaic Greek vase sculpted and painted by Exekias illustrating Ajax and Achilles playing a game...

The 300th Birthday of Johann Friedrich Böttger

Johann Friedrich Böttger (1682 – 1719) was a German alchemist. He is credited with being the first European to create hard-paste porcelain in 1708. The Meissen factory, established 1710, was the first to produce porcelain in Europe in large quantities.
The stamps feature a Meissen teapot (1715), a vase (1715), a figurine Oberon (1969), and a vase 91979).

The Haban ethnic group found refuge in Upper Hungary in the 16th - 17th Centuries. Many of them were skilled potters. The Haban ceramics contain decoration elements from the Netherlands combined with the Hungarian ornamentation of the period.
