Hello primate lovers and posters: Apologies for my long absence, only just alllowed back in my office where replying is just that bit easier than at home using the laptop.

Just been looking at LaoPhil's favorite stamps, and I love those too since so often these days stamps are photographs. But some stamps are rather beautiful colour illustrations and may have some nice "extras" in the margins or tabs.

In the past few years, the Czech Republic has published a MS/set of zoo animals.

This is the first one, from 2016. There are 4 stamps in the MS as well as two lables. One label shows buff-cheeked gibbons (Nomascus gabriellae): in surround, ring-tailed lemur, Geoffroy's marmoset, and golden lion tamarin.

The FDCs that go with it have striking cachets:

of gorillas and emperor tamarins.

Now that I am in that part of the world, let me show you the second zoo issue, of Hodonin zoo:

One stamp has lions and chimpanzees
In surround: Gibbon species; one label shows a lion-tailed macaque; I the margins are a rhesus monkey and a gibbon. Again, the FDCs have beautiful cachets:

And here is the 2018 issue:

One of the stamps shows Bornean orang-utans (Pongo pygmaeus), while there are three labels, including mandrill (Mandrillus sphinx); in margin, mongoose lemur (Lemur mongoz), and slow loris (Nycticebus sp).
Another stamp, that showing hippopotamus, asmain picture aslo shows
Roloway monkeys (Cercopithecus roloway)

The FDCs follow the standard set: Note that the cancels reflect the species on each stamp!

The cachet here is of the critically endangered crested macaque.

I like the orang-utan cancel on this one!

The high value 45 k stamp (SG #472) from Nigeria's 1984 "Nigerian Wildlife" set of four shows a sketchy rendering of a golden monkey (Cercopithicus kandti). This species is "found in the Virunga volcanic mountains of Central Africa" (wikipedia).

This 1983, 3 dinar definitive stamp of Ghana depicts a collared mangabey (Cercocebus torquatus).

From Wikipedia, "The collared mangabey, also known as the red-capped mangabey, or white-collared mangabey is in the family Cercopithecidae of Old World monkeys...(It) is found in coastal, swamp, mangrove and valley forests, from western Nigeria, east and south into Cameroon, and throughout Equatorial Guinea and Gabon."

More primates in the thread, thank you all!
Have we had a selection from a series that appeared over several years issued by Surinam, "Protected Primates"?

uploaded/cobie/20200620_Surinam2009.jpg[/imgel
This is a sheetlet with two sets of 9, with 3 labels (red uakari, squirrel monkey, and brown capuchin)in the middle. The set shows an owl monkey, howler monkey, white uakari, woolly monkey, white -faced saki, Maues' marmoset, black howler monkey female, gorilla, and Diana monkey. These are not all native to Surinam, although that country's fauna is diverse and spectacular.

The maues marmoset

occurs in Brazil and is not as teddy bear like as its ear puffs suggest, as can be seen in this phot by Claus Meier. The white uakari is a different color from the red uakari but thye are the same species:

The phot is by Roland Seitre.
