I've enjoyed this thread. And have been looking around for a related one - or maybe its too broad - but its 'countries honoring other countries'. Like this US stamp - honoring the Canadian centennial.

Rwanda seems especially to have many stamps honoring US historical events(and has come up several times in this thread), but dont' know how broad the topic would be (huge I am sure given the resources at Stamp Community) I wouldn't know how to query the topic so if no one has one to suggest I'll start the topic off seperately. I'd like to see what people have.

Here are all of them (through George W. Bush)--the Marshall Islands Prexies (as a bonus you get two Grover Clevelands).

Regards, Robert

Edit: Replaced image.

A Prexie is a United States definitive stamp of the Presidential series issued from 1938 to 1954. I don't have a Scott catalog handy at the moment so I can't provide catalog numbers. These Marshall Islands stamps are almost exact copies of the U.S. Prexies.

Regards, Robert

I thought this one was quite strange coming from Castro's Cuba. One revolutionary saluting another?

Since today is the 48th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy this one from Brazil would be fitting.

The Stamp Scott 987 was issued on the first anniversary and
the card on the second anniversary of his death.

NB: Replaced missing images.

Re the portrait of Washington on the Cuban stamp -- the caption reads, "My politics are simple -- preserve friendly relations with every nation on earth." In turn, this reflects what Cuba wants more than anything else, lifting of the U.S. trade embargo first instituted in 1962, now some 50 years ago.
