(sigh)
It is so refreshing to see someone post
images from Umm Al Quiwain........

Those of us whom collect the rarities
don't get to see them often.

Now how about Sharjah, Oman, Fujeira, Khor Fakkan ?

The Kaiser-i-Hind (Teinopalpus imperialis) is a rare species of swallowtail butterfly native to India. The common name literally means "Emperor of India". This stamp was printed by photogravure, and was issued by India on October 20, 1981, Scott No. 938.

I love this stamp with a surcharge. I enlarged it but it is a small stamp.

Very nice. Both the regular and the overprint. Not listed in Scott but very collectible for me.

timbres667 - Thanks! Scanning my stamps and then studying them under magnification has greatly enhanced my pleasure in collecting them. There is so much about the world that we can learn from our stamps, if only we take the time to do the necessary research. The internet has been an inestimable boon for stamp collectors like me who want to understand the subject matters depicted on their stamps.

Here is an image of a plate block of a stamp depicting a couple of rare Jamaican Kite Swallowtails (Graphium marcellinus), printed by offset, and issued by Jamaica on August 25, 1975 as one of a set of four stamps (plus a souvenir sheet) depicting indigenous butterflies, Scott No. 398.

timbres667 - Certainly. One of our hobby's best features is that there are virtually an infinite number of ways to pursue it. Each collector is free to follow his or her own aesthetic and intellectual interests.
