Grass snake (Natrix natrix), designed by Liechtensteiner graphic artist Louis Jaeger (aka Jäger), printed by photogravure, and issued by Liechtenstein on December 6, 1973, Scott No. 540. Despite its nonvenomous subject, this stamp reminds me of the adder (Vipera berus) in the memorable titles sequence for the superb 1976 BBC Television series I, Claudius, adapted from the novels of Robert Graves.
