I have found a stamp from Bulgaria Scott 991 from the 1958 bulgarian health resort series with a perf 11.5 instead of the listed perf 13. I have checked a couple online catalogs and none mention a different perf for this stamp. I am stumped. Can someone please shed some light on this one if possible? Dan

I am not surprised. Much like Russia, the Bulgarian stamps have a lot of varieties. In 1958 issued stamps were a mix of perf 11 and 13 and this stamp was likely run through as a perf 11 either intentionally or unintentionally. Can't speak to the value of the variety although it could be quite a lot. The Russian varieties attract a lot of interest and money. Let's see if a Bulgaria expert chimes in.
PS: Pictures always help. |

It's a definitive issue that had several prints during the period of its use, and Scott is not the catalogue to be used for such cases. Michel lists two perforation variations - linear 10¾ and comb 13, nearly the same information contains in the Bulgarian official catalogue - linear 10¾ and comb 12¾ - see here: https://www.mtc.government.bg/archi...=1867&page=5Other varieties are possible, though |

Thank you all for your answers. This is what makes this forum so great. I agree that is a great website and saved link. @rodgcam I did want to post a picture but had a problem and had to leave home for a few hours. Here is the picture. Dan |

...and I stand corrected the perf is indeed 10.75.
Thanks once again!

Out of curiosity, is there a value difference between the two perf types? |

I have not done an extensive search for this perf variety for sale but it seems that all I have seen so far were for the normal perf.

There was a article in Linn's Stamp News about the difference in perforations . So I do have these in my H.E.Harris album . |

If I understand correctly from the link above, this series was issued in 2 parts where the 1st one (16s, 44s, 60s, 80s) and only the 4s from the 2nd part were perfed 10.75?
Thanks Floortrader for showing another stamp with the different perf.

I thought there was a chance based upon what some 1950s Russia varieties can bring. Sorry. |

Unless I'm reading my Michel Europa wrong, it looks like the two perf options share the same catalogue number, 1048, with no further breakdown between them. |
