Vietnam 1948-1956 - Ho Chi Minh - Brown Paper

Bought these in Hanoi in 1993. Scott's 2025 suggests that unsurcharged stamps are vintage 1948, while the surcharged one are from 1956.

You correct. The non surcharged stamps were issued in 1948 for use by the Viet Minh forces. Your fifth stamp is a Service stamp, surcharged 0.1 Kilo Rice and issued 1955. Your last two stamps are surcharged 50 Dong and issued in December 1956. I enclose a copy of Michel catalogue with a lot of information. I hope it is OK to post one Catalogue images, if not, mods, please delete it.
