Attached is a scan of what appears to be a private post mailing of a postal
letter card in Hammonia (Braunschweig) aka early Germany item.

I can find no listing of this item in any of the vast number of Germany or WW catalogs I have! I guess I don't have them all! Ha!).

The item is preprinted "Bureau Hammonia" and "Hammonia Brief".

I do not have the full card, just this front half.

Any ideas as to it usage (ship company?) back in December 22, 1892?

ANY HELP APPRECIATED! Bob

The Hammonia was indeed a ship of the Hamburg-American line. There were three Hammonia's from 1855 to 1922. They all sank and all carried mail. If you search for Hammonia you will find a ton of info on the ships and their history.

The third Hammonia:

Thanks to the two of you for the data! That certainly helps on the old inventory of mine!

It amazes me that there is so much items & data out there and so many catalogs that one doesn't have! Ha! Have a great week my friends.
