When two people really, really, really want the same thing they end up paying $90,000 plus tip for an item estimated at $7500 - $10,000.

That is a spectacular cover. Now if the buyer could just soak off the stamps and send me one of each value, cut square with margins …

Not surprised at the realization. It is an outstanding piece and a tipping cover to an international level exhibit. All you need is two people, or more, who realize that and want it enough.

And who have enough money to spend more on a single item than most readers of this forum have spent on their entire collection.

I purchased the cover. I am currently building and curating a collection of GREAT classic imperfs of the world on cover. I purchased the postal history portion of Vince King's "Timbromanie" collection as a starter group last year.

Offers of beautiful covers welcome …..

Richard - Do you know who you were bidding against that wanted the cover equally (well, almost) as bad?

Rogdcam - No idea. It opened at $14,000 I think it was

Those are twobeautiful things, irrespective of the rarity of the destinations etc. I'm assuming they're already in your collection, as they're on pages akin to the GB leaves you once shared with us.

GeoffHA - They are in the collection I am building for a client - I mount the material in the same way I mount my own material. I have additional full pages on each as back-up for those two covers. Client likes multiples on cover and has a unique block of the Treasury roulette on cover as well.

As to the Embossed issue cover from RASAG, I helped John Griffiths with his embossed issues collection so I have seen some nice stuff - this new cover is equal to anything I have seen.

Personally, I collect GB line engraved imprimaturs and 1891 to 1935 Railway stamps and covers.

Floortrader - Maybe it will make to Boston show. It is not an exhibit that "tells a story" at all and that seems to be the favored way to play in shows these days. This is a collection of various beautiful and rare covers - includes US, BNA, Italian States, German States, Br. Commonwealth (nice Mauritius and Br Guiana), South America, etc. - just bought a nice Venezuela first issue three color franking at Spink.

If shown, it might even be at a dealer stand. Owner does not wish his name attached to it in any form.
