Well, it is good marketing as all of the end of year buying related holidays were covered.

Chanukah?

Kwanzaa?

Winter Solstice?

and let's not forget:

National Rhubarb Vodka Day is celebrated every first Saturday of December and takes place on December 3 this year. This has been a day of celebration for cocktail enthusiasts who enjoy rhubarb's acidity when mixed with vodka — combining vodka with rhubarb results in a sweet, tart flavor and the brightest tint of pink.

alub, you missed Festivus if you are going to include recent made up out of whole cloth holidays.

Quote:
Festivus was conceived by author and editor Daniel O'Keefe, the father of television writer Dan O'Keefe, and was celebrated by his family as early as 1966. While the Latin word f#275;st#299;vus means "excellent, jovial, lively",] and derives from f#275;stus, meaning "joyous; holiday, feast day",Festivus in this sense was coined by the elder O'Keefe.

The highlighted date above is also the first year the then newly created Kwanzaa was first observed. Both traditions have culturally appropriated symbols from the Jewish religion, for example candles by the former and a kippah embroidered with "Happy Festivus" for the latter.

There a actually a number of other holidays celebrated around the world during the last quarter of the calendar year, but none generate the huge direct and indirect (for example socially or familially required travel expenses and board costs) commercial retail money spending in the USA at the level of the three I referenced. Not to mention the year-round celebration in which the forgery sellers partake on the way to their bank.

Edit: No edit above as edit button clicked by mistake.
